Setting Up a SIP Compliant Gateway
To set up a SIP compliant gateway (also known as a SIP enabled PBX), you can purchase a solution from Cisco , Nortel, Avaya or many of the other providers of enterprise class SIP gateways.
If you wish to use Asterisk (opensource software PBX solution), you may set it up yourself:
- Find a spare Linux computer or purchase a pre-configured one from us
- Install a T1 PCI Card in the Linux computer
- Install Asterisk Open Source PBX on the Linux computer
- Install a PRI card in your existing PBX system.
- Configure Asterisk on Linux computer to work with SIPphone.
- Using a T1 cable, connect the installed T1 PCI card to the PBX's PRI card
- Start Asterisk
- All done! Just fill out out peering agreement form to get started.
